Installed two custom waterproof PVC shade sails at Bravo in Cracker Bay, one of the busiest new hospitality spots in town, creating year-round protection over both the playground and outdoor bar areas. The sails were designed to provide reliable shelter from rain and harsh sun while still keeping the space open, bright, and visually striking to match the venue’s modern coastal fit-out.
The project used Serge Ferrari Soltis Proof 502 PVC membrane, a premium waterproof fabric known for its long-term durability, dimensional stability, and resistance to UV, heat, dirt, and weather exposure. The material features Serge Ferrari’s Précontraint® technology, helping prevent stretching and maintaining tension over time, making it ideal for large architectural shade structures. Its satin finish also gave the sails a clean, high-end appearance that suited the venue perfectly.
Sails featured a five-corner design with an 18.5 m perimeter and was tensioned using polished marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware, including D-shackles and turnbuckles for maximum corrosion resistance in outdoor coastal conditions. PTFE sewing thread was used throughout the fabrication process, ensuring the seams retain their strength and integrity for the lifetime of the fabric without deteriorating from sun or weather exposure.
The finished installation not only added a strong architectural feature to the space but also made the outdoor dining and play areas far more functional in all weather conditions, helping Bravo maximise the usability of its outdoor areas throughout the year.
