SUSPENDED MID-POINT (KISSING POINT)
Suspended mid-points offer a convenient solution when installing two shade sails side by side. By connecting to each other, they efficiently close the gap between sails, providing additional shade without the need for extra poles.

TRACK EDGE
Ideal for filling in shade sail curves typically left with space, Track Edged sails from SunGuard are perfect for installations along walls or under eaves. This design provides increased shade coverage, especially when the track runs along a solid surface such as a wall or beam, ensuring stability and durability.
CATENARY CURVE
If a shade sail is manufactured and installed as a flat sheet with straight sides securely fastened between the anchor points, deficiency in curvature will lead to sagging and inadequate tension. At SunGuard, we value both functionality and style, which is why our shade sails feature a standard curvature of 5% to 7%. This curve, known as a catenary curve, ensures even tension distribution. Though it may slightly reduce coverage, it’s vital for stability and durability.
For example, imagine setting up your shade sail with anchoring points spaced at 4, 5, 3, and 7 metres, forming a quadrilateral shape as seen in the image above. With a total calculated area of approximately 11.42 square meters between the attachment points, the shade sail would leave about 0.8 square meters uncovered due to curvature.
Please note – with fewer attachment points and greater distances between them, more space will remain uncovered due to the curvature. For instance, an elongated triangular shade sail would be less efficient in coverage compared to say, a rectangular one with more attachment points closer together.

SHADE SAIL FIXING OPTIONS
When it comes to securing your shade sail, we offer a variety of reliable fixing options tailored to your specific needs. Our selection includes twisted shackles, D-shackles, eye plates, eye bolts, and chain adjusters. The choice of fixing depends on factors such as the location of fixing points and the perimeter of the shade sail. For example, if the space between the poles is too big for the shade sail, our chain adjusters help by making it possible to change the size of the shade sail.

SHADE SAIL CONSENT REQUIREMENTS
In most cases, shade sails under 50 square metres don’t need consent. But it’s a good idea to double-check before installing your custom-made shade sail. Start by gathering important details like the height and total area of your project, where it’ll be on your property, and your property’s size in square metres. Also, note the total area already covered by buildings and hard surfaces like concrete. Monotec 370 FR is a fire retardand version of Monotec 370. Manufactured using only the highest quality FR additives and UV stabilised HDPE to ensure a superior product. With its unique knit construction and 100% round monofilament yarn, Monotec 370 Series FR is designed to pass the industry’s most stringent Fire Retardancy tests including California State Fire Marshall Title 19, NFPA 701 and Class A Rating for ASTM E84.

Shadetec 320 is a commercial grade shade cloth fabric manufactured from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) monofilament and tape filament. Shadetec 320 is then heat set, which improves dimensional stability and consistency and ensures that the mesh will lie flat during fabrication. Shadetec 320 is ideal for small to medium size applications where a premium grade shade fabric is required.
