This striking custom shade sail project was designed to deliver exceptional durability, tension performance, and architectural style for a modern outdoor space. Featuring two large multi-corner sails in a bold Jazzberry Purple finish, the installation creates a standout visual feature while providing excellent sun protection and long-term reliability.

Engineered using a wire-edge perimeter system, the sails are reinforced with marine-grade stainless steel components and adjustable tensioning hardware, making them ideal for exposed environments where strength and stability are essential. The wire-edge construction not only enhances durability but also delivers a crisp, refined appearance with superior tension across the fabric.

The project incorporates:

  • Sail 1: 38m perimeter with 6 corners
  • Sail 2: 29m perimeter with 5 corners

Both sails were manufactured using premium Monotec 370 shade fabric — one of the strongest shade mesh products available on the market. Its extra-wide fabric design minimises visible seams for a cleaner aesthetic, while providing up to 90% UV shade protection. Developed and manufactured in Australia, Monotec 370 is also stain-resistant, low maintenance, and fully recyclable.

For maximum longevity, the sails were sewn using PTFE thread, ensuring the seams maintain their strength and integrity even after years of exposure to harsh outdoor conditions, UV radiation, and temperature extremes.

Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware, including turnbuckles and D-shackles, was used throughout the installation to provide excellent corrosion resistance and a polished architectural finish. The sails were tensioned onto existing structural posts, integrating seamlessly into the space without the need for additional framework.
