This premium outdoor screening installation at The Helier Retirement Village in St Heliers was designed to enhance resident comfort, privacy, and sun protection while maintaining a sleek and modern architectural appearance suited to a high-end retirement living environment.
The project features a large custom outdoor screen measuring 5215mm wide x 2560mm drop, professionally fitted within a reveal for a clean, integrated finish. The system was engineered to provide effective glare reduction and daytime privacy without completely blocking airflow or outward visibility.
The screen was manufactured using Shadeview One mesh fabric with a 1% openness factor in the sophisticated Midnight colourway. This high-performance mesh fabric offers excellent solar control and visibility management while maintaining a refined contemporary aesthetic. Black welded side splines were incorporated to improve fabric retention and create a cleaner visual finish within the side channels.
All visible aluminium components — including the brackets, tracks, channels, and bottom rail — were finished in a custom Dulux Matt Black powder coating, delivering a bold architectural look that complements the surrounding building design.
For smooth and effortless operation, the screen was fitted with an Alpha motorised automation system with remote control functionality, allowing convenient day-to-day use for residents and staff alike.
The installation also included a streamline pelmet, providing a more polished appearance while helping conceal and protect the roller mechanism from the elements.
