Roller Blinds That Work — Built for Kiwi Homes

Need shade that works, lasts, and doesn’t cost a fortune? We make and install roller blinds that do the job, full stop.

All blinds are made right here on the North Shore using proven Acmeda gear — no cheap stuff, no corners cut. You get solid components that hold up in Auckland sun, wind and salt air. We measure, make, and fit across the wider Auckland area, and ship nationwide.

What You’re Getting

Blockout blinds — good for bedrooms and media rooms. Total privacy, less heat, better sleep.

Sunscreen rollers — cuts glare, keeps views. Great for north-facing lounges.

Thermal blinds — heavier fabric, holds heat in winter and out in summer.

Double blinds — day/night setup. One chain for light, one for full block.

We Use Materials That Last

We stock fabric from Shaw, Shann, Louvolite (UK), GAT, and others. Not just to have options — these are suppliers who know local conditions. No curling edges or faded spots in six months. Most orders are made and ready in 7–10 working days if fabric’s in stock.

Smart or Simple — Your Call
Standard chain operation is simple and proven. Metal or plastic, up to you. If you’re going automated, we use Somfy, Acmeda, or Alpha — solid brands. Wired or rechargeable motors, wall switches or app control. Works with smart home gear. No fluff, just good systems that respond when you need them to.

Real Fit and Finish
Choose bracket styles that suit your space — single or double. Rails and chains come in black, white, grey, metal — tidy and low-key. We don’t push what you don’t need. If it’s a clean install with standard gear — that’s what you get.

Block It Proper
Need near-total blackout? Go with cassette systems like Acmeda CF90. About 80–90% dim-out. For full block, Screenaway or Ziptrak interior units do the job — spring-loaded, tidy fit, Aussie-built. Bonus — they double as insect screens with mesh fabric.

We know what works — and what doesn’t — in real Kiwi homes. High windows in Herne Bay? West-facing lounge in Hobsonville? We’ve been there. Measured it. Solved it.

500+ homeowners rate us 4.9 stars on Google — not because we sell dreams, but because we install shade that lasts.

FAQs

Question: What fabrics do you use for roller blinds?

Answer: We stick to fabrics that hold up in Kiwi conditions. Mostly Aussie-made — Shaw, Shann, Uniline, Vertex, GAT. Also stock Louvolite from the UK. Big range of colours and textures, but we don’t chase looks over quality. If it curls, fades, or sags — we don’t use it. We also supply Luxaflex if you’re after that line.

Question: What hardware goes into your roller blinds?

Answer: We use Acmeda gear — proven components, solid build. No plastic clips that snap or chains that stick. Same stuff we’d fit in our own homes. Built to last, even with daily use.

Question: Where can I use roller blinds?

Answer: Pretty much anywhere inside — bedrooms, lounges, home offices, kids’ rooms. Blockout for sleep, sunscreen for glare, thermal if you’re chasing insulation. We’ve installed in all sorts of setups, from modern apartments to old villas. If there’s a window, we can cover it.

Question: What’s the biggest size you can make?

Answer: Standard blinds max out around 3 by 3 metres — depends on the fabric and how thick it rolls up. Need bigger? We can go up to 4.6 metres wide using a 60mm tube and heavy-duty fittings. Just ask — we’ll tell you what works for your space.

Question: How do roller blinds work?

Answer: Most roller blinds are manually operated using a plastic or metal chain. This popular control system is very easy to use. In coastal areas, we also offer stainless steel control chains for added durability. Alternatively, we provide motorized roller blinds as an option. Motorized blinds can be operated either through hard-wired or wireless systems. The control units range from hand-held remotes to wall switches, providing convenience and flexibility in managing your roller blinds.

Question: How long does it take from roller blinds order to installation?

Answer: Generally, it takes about two weeks from the time you place your blinds order to the installation. The majority of our roller blinds orders are completed within 10 days. Some orders can even be manufactured and installed within a working week, depending on the fabric selection you make.

Question: How do roller blinds work?

Answer: Most are chain-operated — plastic or metal. Simple and reliable. For coastal homes, we recommend stainless chains — they don’t rust. Want hands-free? Go motorised. Battery or hardwired options available. Control from a remote, wall switch, or your phone.

Question: How long from order to install?

Answer: Usually 7–10 working days. Faster if the fabric’s in stock. Some jobs we turn around in under a week. All made here on the North Shore — no offshore waiting.

Question: Why go motorised?

Answer: Good for high windows or if you want hassle-free control. Our battery motors don’t need an electrician — just plug in to charge like a phone. One charge lasts 3–6 months. Quiet, smooth, tidy install.

Question: What motor brands do you use?

Answer: We fit Somfy, Acmeda and Alpha — all proven in NZ homes. You can stick to basic remotes or go smart with Wi-Fi hubs and app control. Set schedules, link with other smart gear. No drama.

Question: How do you clean roller blinds?

Answer: Wipe with a damp cloth. Bit of dish soap for marks. No washing machines — they’ll wreck the fabric. Keep it simple and they’ll last.

Question: Can you split one blind into two?

Answer: Yep. We use an inline joiner to run two blinds on one bracket. Gap between them is about 15 mm. You can run both from one chain or motor, or set them up to work independently.

Question: Is installation tricky?

Answer: Not at all. We fit inside or outside the frame, depending on the light block you want. Outside fit helps cut light leaks. We measure properly, so the fit’s always tight.

Question: Can I order roller blinds online?

Answer: Sure can. Just flick us an email with your measurements (width and drop). We’ll double-check the details with you before we start. If you’re in Auckland, we can swing by for a free measure and quote — no obligation, no pressure.

Question: Do you do commercial jobs?

Answer: Yep. Offices, shops, schools — no problem. Same gear we put in homes, just scaled for bigger spaces. Built to last, even with daily use. We’ll quote it properly and fit it right.

Question: What’s the warranty?

Answer: Five years on blinds, fabric, and hardware. Seven years on Acmeda and Alpha motors. Five on Somfy. That’s full cover — not just parts. If something goes wrong that shouldn’t, we sort it. No mucking about.
